How do you work with clients?
While I build in structure, and tap 20 years of coaching experience, the holistic career and life coaching that I offer is flexible and organic, to fit with each client's individual needs and circumstances.
This is your journey, and I accompany you for however long it takes to uncover your needs and attain your goals. At the outset, you may have some initial ideas in mind, or you may be unsure but open-minded about what might be next for you. As we work together, your objectives may change. I will respond to your preferred pace and direction, helping you to see all the possible paths and decide which one is right for you.
You get lots of empathy, patience, wisdom, good humor, creative brainstorming, and compassion–and a let’s make it happen attitude that gets you moving toward making real change in your life.
What does it mean to be a “holistic” coach?
There are two parts to this answer. My holistic approach means that….
I completed a Master’s in Holistic Counseling from Salve Regina, and I have been running train-the-train sessions for a number of years that teach other career counselors how to integrate more holistic and mindfulness-based practices into their coaching work.
How long does it take?
Because each person is on a different path, with different goals, it's not really possible for me to provide a timescale, or to promise you that you will achieve a specific goal.
What I can share is that when clients are making career transitions / changes, we usually start with a couple of sessions (3-5) focused on self-assessment exercises and reflection. For career change we would explore your VIPS – which stands for values, interests, personality and skills. Then comes research (online and talking with other professionals), decision making and job search. I can help with each stage of this process.
Where / how do you work?
Most of my work is done via Google Meet video or phone. However, if you wish to come to my office in Providence, RI, we can meet in-person.
Who do you typically work with?
My clients come from a very wide range of backgrounds, and industries. You might be a sustainability specialist, development director, a high school teacher, a CFO, professor, project manager or an academic advisor.
Can I do some of the work on my own?
Yes, in fact I’m a big fan of “homework”. Giving you assignments to complete on your own. There are often many things people can do on their own, it’s just a matter of having some direction and then someone to process the results with.
If you are shifting directions / doing a career change, I will actually ask you to do some homework even before our first meeting. Here’s what it will be:
How would you help me figure out a good career / job fit?
Making a career change can be a challenge, especially if you aren’t sure what a good fit will be. In the world of career coaching there is a model that helps with this often daunting process. The acronym is VIPS, and it stands for Values, Interests, Personality and Skills. By investigating each of these categories about yourself, you have a much better idea of your career fit.
Some of the self-assessment tools I use also give you career ideas after you complete them. Tools I use include the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), SkillScan, Work Values exercise, StrengthsFinder, and other exercises that are often assigned as homework for you to complete before the next coaching session.
I’d like to ask some questions, and see if this is a fit. What’s next?
You can set up a 20 min consultation (via the form below) so that I can hear more about your individual situation and goals, and you can hear more details about how I work, as well as get any additional questions answered. For us to find a time to talk, when filling out the form, it would be very helpful if you can share a few dates and times when you are available. Thanks so much, and I look forward to connecting and hearing more about your story.

What does it mean to be a “holistic” coach?
There are two parts to this answer. My holistic approach means that….
- I take a broad view on someone’s life and the things that influence / impact you. For example, your family, friends, culture, philosophy of work ethic, beliefs about what you are cable of, all impact your choices.
- Next, I use a range of holistic practices to help my clients figure out what they really want, as well as to work through any blocks or even fears. This could include guided visualizations, breathwork, developing affirmations, collage / vision board building, discussions about limited beliefs, and journal writing assignments, just to name a few.

- Interests – can you create a list of all of your personal and professional interests? Thinking very boarding about this question. Your answer could include that you are interested in landscape gardening, international travel, watching tennis matches, Thai cooking, dabbing in drawing political cartoons, and working out at the gym.
- Career Ideas – include three categories:
- Early career ideas (when you were little, what did you dream of?)
- Realistic ideas – if you applied for a new job tomorrow, what might be some of the job titles that you would target?
- Wild ideas – if you could do anything and had no limits, didn’t have to worry about money, status, or fear of failure, what crazy, dreamy, or wild ideas would you have?
