Linkedin: 18 Ways to Turn Your Profile into a Portfolio

The trend right now is all things visual.  We are so much more likely to click on a blog post if we are drawn to the photo or image that accompanies it.  No pic at all.  Forget it!  We probably won’t even bother.

So why not harness this visual trend and use it to our advantage in our Linkedin Profiles.

Some people call this adding "Media Links" others call it Linkedin's "Professional Portfolio."  Regardless of the name, this tool will allow you to link to other websites or upload your presentations and other documents.  You can add them to your Summary, Experience, Education and Projects.  And it's fast to do.  So, how about it.  Are you ready to transform your profile into a portfolio?

Want inspiration?  Here are some ideas of what you might consider including, courtesy of my social media savvy friends and colleagues:

Great work, Sabrina. The Media feature is a great way to show off your talent but is underused. It's good for LinkedIn users to see the various ways one can promote their talent.

Hi Sabrina. I loved your suggestions for turning one's profile into a portfolio. About 2 years ago, I started to optimize the media section of my profile and noticed that it improved my ability to connect with like-minded professionals and prospects.

Yet there are a few options that I had not considered and I am grateful that you have brought them to my attention. Thank you!
